  • Counseling can be hard and sometimes it feels worse before it feels better. It can also be a beautiful transformation of shedding layers of coping strategies and defense mechanisms that once kept you safe, but may not be helpful to maintain. It will be important that you give yourself a lot of credit through the process, because change is difficult.

  • Many clients like to have a journal designated for counseling sessions. It can be helpful to write down questions that come up between sessions so we can be sure to cover them. If you have intake materials or were working on something between sessions, bring that too. Most importantly, bring your full presence and attention to make the most of our time together.

  • Most of the change that happens with counseling occurs between sessions. We are only together for an hour, and then you venture back into your world where you can apply what we discussed. There will usually be skills to work on after each time we meet.

  • We will usually meet weekly or bi-weekly. We will work collaboratively at each session to create an agenda that will primarily be driven by what you’d like to discuss or work on. The length of therapy is quite variable based on your motivation, severity of issues to resolve, and work efforts outside of therapy sessions. On average, many people feel that they have obtained what they are looking for in 10-25 sessions.

  • The intake session is $210 and regular sessions are $175. Contact me for the sliding scale if you do not have insurance.

  • I am able to accept cash, credit card, and funds through your Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA). I am in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Health Partners, Cigna, Preferred One, and Aetna. For all other insurance providers, I am considered “out of network.,” and can provide a receipt for your reimbursement.
